The five-star Robinhood Free Meetinghouse, launched in 1994 by renowned Chef Michael Gagné, is the very definition of New England dining at its finest. The nationally acclaimed Georgetown, Maine restaurant, housed in a meticulously restored 1855 post-and-beam church, has earned high marks both for its dynamic menu options and seamless service from such regionally and nationally prominent outlets as The New York Times, Travel & Leisure, Offshore Magazine, The Boston Globe and The Portland Press Herald. The enthusiastic accolades the restaurant has earned of late result in no small measure from the skilled guidance and culinary excellence of Chef de Cuisine Troy Mains, a Maine native known for his creative, innovative take on the fresh, seasonal and traditional ingredients of his home state. In addition to serving full dining rooms during its dinner service, the Meetinghouse also has become well-known among locals and visitors to Maine for its festive Seasonal Wine Dinners, as well as for its popular Theme Nights, during which guests enjoy flavor-filled, hand-crafted dishes which span cuisines ranging from Cajun, Italian and Szechuan to Caribbean, Thai and German. Gagné and Mains also continue to enjoy enthusiastic feedback at the Meetinghouse over their award-winning, 72-layer Cream Cheese Biscuits, launched by Gagné Foods, Inc. in 2003. The biscuits "add up to heaven," according to The Nibble: Great Food Finds. In a fair indicator of further good culinary news to come, Gagné's biscuits won the coveted gold medal for Outstanding New Product at the prestigious 2006 National Association of the Specialty Food Trade annual event, beating out thousands of competitors from across the nation.
