The path to pure joy and true appreciation of a loved one doesn't have to be a long and expensive journey. You can arrive there easily with a little planning and an alarm set 45 minutes earlier than usual. I'm talking about Breakfast in Bed, the ultimate act of love and service.
Set a quiet secret alarm for yourself and do everything you can to not wake your intended love target. Before you rub the sleep out of your eyes, preheat your oven. Then get the coffee going (you almost certainly need some) and pop the Robinhood Meetinghouse Cinnamon Rolls in (or you can take an extra 2 minutes and shape them into hearts like this). Grab a tray, board or large coffee table book. Cover it with a cloth napkin or dishcloth. Find his/her favorite reading material or queue up a preferred morning talk-show. Pour juice into a glass, fix their coffee the way they like it. Also, brush your teeth (you'll be getting a kiss).
By now the smell of cinnamon is wafting toward the bedroom. How about a dish of pretty fresh fruit? Add that to the tray. If you connected the dots on a card, good for you, add that. But if not, don't even worry about it. Find a piece of paper and write a corny knock-knock joke using their name.
Knock Knock? Who's there? Sharon. Sharon who? Sharon these Cinnamon Rolls would be nice!
Or how about a simple line in your signature scrawl that says it all ... "I love you more than sleep!"
The Cinnamon Rolls are ready! Put them on a pretty plate, ice them, and add them to your tray. You still have 5 minutes before the alarm goes off - you did it! Have fun, they are surely going to be the best 5 minutes of your day.
Happy Valentine's Day! Love, The Biscuit Girl
